When traveling, one always leaves a trail behind, footprints, a cairn….

To remember the journey, I collect small objects, pebbles and rocks that fill my pockets. When I eventually stop for a while, in an oasis, a harbor. I compile these little souvenirs in travelogues which will go on traveling with someone else, around their neck, their fingers or on their boutonniere..

Along with objects I also acquire ancient techniques from artisans friends and master jewelers, from Africa to Asia. Expertise that enriches my work and continue to live in contemporary pieces. Each piece of jewelry tells a story of a long journey in which Amazonia encounters Mongolia, China, Turkey, Italy, Ardèche…

Hélène has lived in Africa for many years, first as a child, then as a teenager and more recently with her own family. She has wandered tirelessly through markets, craftsmen shops, goldsmiths and traditional jewellers. She has spent hours sitting with them and, then, progressively stepping behind the work bench to learn how to master gold, silver and filigree, all materials worn by the princesses of her dreams. Later she became familiar with the Venice magicians who managed to imprison in glass the rich and bright African colours. Associated with gold, silver, ebony, sandal wood, the millefiori constitute an inexhaustible source for her art creation. It is here that Hélène finds the basis for her creation’s ingredients.

YEU DE YOL collection is inspired by long and daydream ocean walks.

Finding shells on the beach shaped by the sea as rings, they ended instantly on my artist fingers. Unfortunately after few days they were breaking, they were too fragile so came the idea to make them in gold and silver.

That’s how, from  my ocean wandering, did spring my YEU DE YOL collection. Each model was picked up from Yeu island (French island in Vendée region) to make the different sizes except one: the small Yalong!

This is a very small series to keep memories of splendid gold and silver marine walks…
